A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I am a professional translator, proofreader and machine translation post-editor. I was registered as a translator in 2001 but my translation experience is much longer.

I studied English, Czech and teaching at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. I constantly expand my linguistic and professional knowledge by attending various seminars, webinars and conferences. In 2016, I completed my doctoral study in the field of English linguistics.

The added value of my translation services is the fact that I have a university degree both in English, which is my source language, and in Czech, which is my target language (and my mother tongue), and therefore I can guarantee the grammatical correctness and stylistic appropriateness of the translation.

I would never accept a translation job that I would be unable to complete by the agreed deadline or that was in an area in which I do not feel confident.

My yearly output is approximately 300,000 to 400,000 words; my daily output is up to 3,000 words.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Language skills:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

  • Native speaker of Czech

  • State exam in German

  • Basic knowledge of Italian and Russian

I have always liked learning languages and studying languages at university was a natural choice for me. Apart from a degree in English and Czech, I passed the state exam in German and I am able to communicate in Italian and Russian.

During my studies, I spent some time in the UK – first at a three-month student exchange at the University of Leeds, and later as an au pair in Scotland for one year. I am constantly improving my language skills.
